Edmonton's AI-First Web Agency

One Person. No Layers.Just Results.

Holler Digital is me — James Murgatroyd. A Brit who landed in Edmonton, fell in love with the city, and has spent 20+ years helping businesses build websites that actually work.

I run an AI-first practice. That means 18 specialist agents monitoring your rankings, security, and content around the clock — with 20+ years of strategy and judgment making the calls. No account managers. No junior devs learning on your project. No game of telephone.

The Short Version

I started building websites in the early 2000s — back when “responsive design” wasn’t a thing and we were all arguing about Flash. I worked agency-side, freelance, in-house, and eventually figured out what I actually wanted to do: help small and mid-sized businesses get the same quality of web strategy that the big agencies charge six figures for.

I moved to Edmonton, started Holler Digital, and built it around one simple idea: your website should be the hardest-working thing in your business. Not the prettiest portfolio piece for some designer. Not a tech demo. A tool that brings in leads, builds trust, and makes your life easier.

Most of my clients are marketing managers and nonprofit directors who are wearing all the hats. They don’t need a 40-slide deck about “brand synergy.” They need someone who picks up the phone, explains things in plain English, and actually delivers what they promised.

Translation: I do the strategy, the design, and the development. You get one person who understands the whole picture — not three departments who don’t talk to each other.

I’m proudest of the work where the results speak for themselves. Helping the Alex Brophy Chicken Foundation process $1.7 million in donations through Lemonade Stand Day. Lifting click-through rates by 164% for Essex Lease. Building systems that don’t just look good on launch day but keep working months and years later.

And yeah — my coffee is usually moderately cold by the time I drink it. Occupational hazard.

How it actually works: Six months ago I started building an AI agent system — not because it was trendy, but because I wanted to give clients enterprise-level monitoring without charging enterprise prices. Two weeks ago the last of the 18 agents went live. They handle the monitoring, the auditing, the reporting. I handle the strategy, the relationships, and the work that needs a human brain. You get the coverage of a full agency with someone who actually picks up the phone.

How I Work

Strategy First, Then Everything Else

Every project starts with the 4P Framework — a structured approach that makes sure your website is built around your audience, their problems, and how your business solves them. Not just what looks pretty.

It means we don’t jump straight to design. We figure out who’s coming to your site, what they need, and what action you want them to take. Then we build around that. It sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many agencies skip it.

The thing that makes James different is he genuinely understands the business side, not just the tech. He's made my life easier — like, 5,000% easier. I don't have to think about the website anymore. It just works.

What I Do

Three Things, Done Well

I don’t do social media management. I don’t do PPC. I do web design, hosting, and SEO — and I do them properly.
Based in Edmonton. Only Edmonton.

This City Is My Market.
Not One of Thirty.

I live here. My clients are here. I know which neighbourhoods are up-and-coming, which industries are competitive, and what Edmonton businesses are actually searching for — because I’ve been watching this market for over 20 years.

Some agencies will tell you they’re Edmonton-based. Then you find out their team spans across the Americas and your account is handled by someone in a timezone three hours away who’s never driven down Whyte Ave.

I work from Edmonton. When something needs fixing, I’m in the same city as your business, in the same timezone, and I actually know what you’re talking about when you mention the neighbourhood your customers are in. That’s not a small thing.
