You worked hard to funnel people to your website so don’t send them straight back to the distraction zone.
Placing social media links in your website header might seem like a smart web design move to boost visibility, but it’s actually like hanging a giant, flashing exit sign at the top of every page. One click and your visitors are off to death-scroll through reels and memes, possibly never to return.
Worse? Platforms like Facebook will know exactly what site they just left, and suddenly your potential customer is nowe getting bombarded with ads from you and your competitors. You’ve essentially handed over your audience on a silver platter.
Better idea: Keep social icons in the footer, or only use them when contextually relevant. Focus your header on navigation that drives action, like learning about your services or booking a discovery call and getting them deeper into your own content.
Your website should be a destination, not a detour.
